The South Dakota Sports Hall of Fame is dedicated to preserving, documenting, and displaying South Dakota's sports history. Outstanding athletes, coaches, and contributors are selected annually for the Hall of Fame.

The South Dakota Sportswriters Association established the Hall of Fame in 1968.

An advisory board of approximately 30 people, representing nearly every sport South Dakotans participate in, provides input and helps nominate individuals to the Hall.
