Virginia Plihal - Inducted 1990
Grew up in Omaha, Neb. Omaha University. Acted as business manager for U.S. track teams in international competitions from 1970 to the mid-'80s. Was assistant manager of the U.S. women's Olympic track team in 1980 and managed the team from 1981-83. She also served as manager for the men's and women's track teams at the 1983 World Cup Games in Rome. Tyndall woman got her start when her daughter, Sally, was a national-calibre high jumper in the late 1960s. Arranged airplane tickets, accomodations, meals, etc. for the U.S. teams. Worked with the AAU and Junior Olympic programs. In late 1970s she became national awards chairman for The Athletics Congress' entire adult program. She held other positions, too, many of them relating to international competition generally.
