Steve Kueter - Inducted 2019
Steve Kueter graduated from West Central High School in 1973 and Dakota State College in 1977. In high school he participated in football, basketball and track & field. At Dakota State he played fullback for the Trojans his freshman and sophomore years until an injury sidelined him his junior and senior years. He started officiating those last two years.
The Humboldt native retired in 2015 as the winningest prep football coach in South Dakota history (289-92-1). Kueter coached one year at Webster where his team had a 4-4-1 record. He coached at Sioux Falls O’Gorman for 33 years. He arrived at O'Gorman as an assistant coach under Bob Burns in 1978 and took over the head coaching duties in 1983. O’Gorman won seven state titles and was runner-up six times under Kueter. The Knights had back-to-back unbeaten seasons in 2004 and 2005. He had just one losing season in his 34 years as head football coach. He has been O'Gorman's activities director for 32 years.
