Gordie Fosness - Inducted 1991



Presho. 1957 Dakota Wesleyan grad. Was men's basketball coach at DWU for 22 years. His teams won 351 games and 11 conference titles, earning him a spot in the NAIA Hall of Fame. He also was an assistant football coach at DWU for 20 years. In 1988 he became state director of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. As a player, Fosness was all-conference four years in basketball and two years in football. He ended his college basketball career as the leading scorer in state history (1,805 points). The 6-foot-4 Fosness was drafted in the 10th round of the NBA draft in 1957 by the Minneapolis Lakers. Taught and coached one year at Cavour and three years at Gregory before becoming DWU's basketball coach.
